FMIS Prefects Visit Sarwaran to Pay Respects

On December 21, 2016, SLO® prefects from grades 9 and 10 at Fakhir Mergasori International School (FMIS), a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, visited Sarwaran International School, another SABIS® PPP school, to pay condolences for the loss of a student.

The prefects visited the school and the SLO® team at Sarwaran to share in the school’s efforts to remember the student who had passed. They sat amongst the Sarwaran students, listened to the memories, and presented a bouquet of flowers to place on the student’s desk. Before leaving, the students wrote a message on the wall where others were leaving messages.

The visit was a beautiful initiative by the students at FMIS who showed great respect whilst at the other school. It taught them the importance of supporting members of the community and the duties we have as members of a greater society. “I was very proud seeing our students take on this role. They showed us how understanding and compassionate they are by being there for the other students,” said a teacher. To visit the gallery of the event, please click here.
