FMIS Students Celebrate Flag Day

Students in grades 1 – 10 at Fakhir Mergasori International School, a SABIS^® PPP school in Kurdistan, celebrated Flag Day which was organized by the SABIS^® Student Life Organization^®’s Activities Department on December 15, 2016.

Students wore traditional clothes on that day, and had their faces painted with the colors of the Kurdish flag. Around lunchtime, students danced with the teachers on traditional Kurdish songs and then gathered to sing the national anthem as they watched the national flag being raised.

The purpose of the activity was to unite students on a day where they celebrated their country’s national flag and help them feel part of a bigger community and country. “We all felt the nationalism and were proud of our students,” said a teacher.
