FMIS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN RWANGA BOOK PROJECT

On April 16,2019, students in Grade 6 at Fakhir Mergasori International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in the Rwanga Book project.

The Grade 6 students under the guidance of their English teacher took the school bus to Sami Abdurrahman Park where they attended the “Read to Lead” project. The Rwanga Foundation launched the new project entitled ‘Rwanga Book Project: Read to Lead’ in order to encourage writers to participate by writing educational short stories for children centered around themes such as hope, Kurdistan culture, history, and heritage. After an enjoyable afternoon listening to the stories, some writers gave the students their books for free in an effort to motivate them to read more.

The purpose of this activity was to highlight the importance of books and the value of reading in the students lives. “I used to hate reading, but after seeing the passion in the writer’s eyes, I changed my mind and started reading,” said a student.
