Parliament Committee of Education Visits Fakhir Mergasori International School
On February 19th, 2009, members of the Parliament Committee of Education visited the Fakhir Mergasori International School. The purpose of their visit was to experience the SABIS® system firsthand and the impact it is making on the school’s students.
For the occasion, a SABIS® Representative in Iraq and members of the school’s administrative staff were present to greet the head of the committee of Higher Education, along with other esteemed committee members.
The committee toured the school and was briefed on the SABIS® Educational System. “We are very pleased with SABIS® methodologies and its results and look forward to seeing similar models of education being applied in other areas of Kurdistan,” stated a committee member.
The Fakhir Mergasori International School came about as a result of a contract signed between SABIS® and the Ministry of Education in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, in December 2007. The first SABIS®-PPP school in Kurdistan, the Fakhir Mergasori International School, opened to more than 300 students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 in the 2008-09 academic year and serves as a model for improving education in Iraq at both the primary and secondary levels.
